I have two Moka H-E01 genius flame machines both set as masters. I think I’m scripting it correctly, (turning off safety channel before firing)and Finale is giving me channels 2-3 for one and 4-5 for the other. I’m really struggling with what do I set my Cobra module channel too and what do I set my flame machine channels? Moka has terrible instructions and the 2 channels is confusing me, especially the safety channel is a range of channels

    Thanks

The terminology here is confusing because COBRA uses the word “channel” for something completely different from a DMX channel.

For pyro, a COBRA module has banks of 18 cues, which Finale 3D calls pins. Each bank of 18 cues is assigned a COBRA channel. Those channel and cue combinations are only used to fire electric matches connected to the module’s firing terminals.

DMX works differently. A DMX-capable COBRA 36M or 72M outputs one DMX Universe and supports up to 200 DMX channels. For DMX output, the COBRA channel setting does not matter unless you are also using that module to fire pyro.

The easiest way to configure everything correctly is to print the DMX Fixture Setup report in Finale 3D: File > Reports > Special reports > DMX Fixture Setup

    The report will show:

    1) The DMX Universe, which you set on the COBRA module.

    2) The Channel Base for each fixture, which is the DMX address you set on the physical flame machine.

Again, the COBRA module’s “channel” number only applies to pyro and is completely irrelevant for DMX.

In your example, if Finale 3D assigns channels 2–3 to one flame machine and 4–5 to the other, the first machine should use Channel Base 2 and the second should use Channel Base 4. The report will confirm the exact settings for your show.
