Return of unused inventory

Hello pyros,

We have had a show cancel where the inventory has already been subtracted.

Other than manually entering each item, is there any way to bulk return the substracted / unused inventory back into the effects file?

Hi Joel and welcome to the Finale 3D community!

 

There is no single command that reverses Subtract used quantities from available, but you can do it in bulk with a quick round trip through Excel. You only need two columns.

 

First, one setting to change:

 

Go to File > User settings > Set click action for effects window and choose Select cell. The default is Select row, which will stop you pasting into a single column.

 

Then, with the cancelled show open so the Used quantities are populated:

 

1. In the Effects window, right-click the Used column header and choose Select this column. Copy it and paste it into Excel.
2. Do the same for the Available column, pasting it into the next column in Excel.
3. In Excel, add the two columns together. That gives you your original available quantities.
4. Copy that result, then back in Finale 3D click the first cell of the Available column and paste.

 

One thing to watch: the Effects window must stay sorted the same way for every one of these copy and paste operations. If the sort changes in between, the rows will no longer line up and the quantities will go back against the wrong products.
