CharcoalHi pyro83613402, welcome to the Finale 3D community and thanks for posting!
For your first question, each release name includes the date, which makes it easy to tell which one is newer. For example:
Latest FULL release: 2026.06.15-54bcc78d0 = June 15, 2026
Latest BETA release: 2026.08.13-220ccc581 = August 13, 2026
So, on the download page (https://finale3d.com/download) right now, the August 13 build is the newest build, but it is a Beta Release. The June 15 build is the newest Full Release.
In general, I recommend the Full Release if you want the most tested and stable version. The Beta Release is newer and includes the latest improvements and fixes, but because it has had less testing, there is a greater chance of encountering a problem.
You can see which version you’re currently running in Finale 3D by going to File > View account details.
For your second question, we haven’t made any recent changes to the racks workflow in Hobbyist. Can you tell me what made you think there was a change?
I think you’re running into trouble because Hobbyist doesn’t support adding a rack by clicking on the rack icon in the Effects window. In Hobbyist, racks are added by going to Racks > Add racks for show. Finale 3D will calculate the racks needed for the show and add them from there. for more details on the rack features in Hobbyist, check out: https://finale3d.com/documentation/rack-counts
