    I am writing to inquire about the commercial use of the 3D Google Maps feature available in the Professional Edition. Specifically, I would like to confirm whether it is permissible to utilize the 3D Google Maps imagery and features in commercial projects or productions.

    Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, you may absolutely use the 2D and 3D Google Maps imagery for your commercial presentations and productions. This is one of the major use cases for these features.

    Hi,

     

    We have trouble using 3D maps. 2D works fine, but 3D shows only black.

    Google has been experiencing server outages over the past 24 hours. I’m not sure if the outages affect 3D map data but it seems plausible. Do you encounter the same issue for different locations? For example, does the 3D map download properly if you select La Ronde in Montreal, Quebec, Canada?

    I did some tests, and this appears to be a global issue with 3D Google Maps. I’m not sure if this is a Finale issue or a Google issue — we are investigating.

    I have been encountering the same issue with any 3d maps.  Black box on the map with both high and low detail 3d.  2d Google maps works.  I’ve tried everything within Finale3D to try to correct it.  Restarting, new show, reinstalling finale3d and still the same result.

    Thanks for the report. We are experiencing the same behavior on our end. We aren’t sure if the problem is Google or Finale; we are investigating the issue.

    I’m happy to report that we just published a new BETA release of Finale 3D (2025.06.14-7563c981a) that resolves the 3D Google Maps issue. It turned out that Google made a change on their end that required us to do some modifications to Finale 3D.

    Hi Jakob Hatteland Kjemi AS, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with 3D Google Maps. I just did a quick test, and it’s working normally for me. I’m running the latest beta release.

    Hi Jakob Hatteland Kjemi AS, the 3D Google Maps fix was first included in the 2025.06.14 beta release. The numbers in release names are dates. for example, 2025.06.14 signifies the date 14 June 2025. Any release (“BETA” or “FULL”) after this date will include the fix.
