    I spent some time building some cakes last night and started manually adjusting inventories.  When I was done, I decided to back my changes up up with a network sync (File > Sync with Network).  The sync has errored out after multiple attempts with an error code of “Response not successful: Received status code 504”.  Is there something that I did that caused this issue that I need to undo?

     

    EDIT – all good now.  Not sure what happened.

    Hey acfarrey, I saw your edit so I didn’t jump on this right away but I still wanted to follow up with some info that might be useful for you or anyone who comes across this post in the future.

     

    The sync error could have been caused by an internet connection issue, a temporary network error or a technical issue on our end. With the current sync process, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint the exact cause of some errors. The good news is that we’re about to release a new sync process to improve performance and reliability, and provide clearer, more helpful error messages.

     

    However, if you ever have trouble syncing for any reason, it’s critical that you back up your effects before closing Finale 3D. If you close Finale 3D without making a backup, any unsaved changes will be permanently lost. Backing up effects is quick and easy, you can find the steps here: https://finale3d.com/documentation/saving-a-backup-file/

     

    The sync process only applies to online effect collections (My effects, supplier catalogs, Finale Inventory accounts), not to show files or anything else. A common misconception is that syncing saves shows online, but that’s not the case. Show files are only saved to the location you choose on your computer.
