Hi, I would like to assign racks manually by selecting events from the Script windows and then selecting “Add racks for selected events”. That works. However, I cannot see what effects have already been assigned a rack in the Script window. Also, I would like to be able to use the assigned rack as a filter. Can this be fixed? Additionally, I would like to use Tilt and or Angle as a Filter. Can this be fixed too? Thank you,
There were two buttons in Finale Business that were quite helpful, but didn’t seem to make it into 3d. One increased the height of the script bar to make it easier to view large numbers of simultaneous cues, and the other toggled between “burst and line” and “shell descriptions” in the script bar. It’s possible the options are still there, and I just haven’t found them, or that they aren’t available in Lite.
Thanks Drew! This will work!
Hi Kristine Ernzen, the “sky mine” effect, where the burst pattern of the stars is in a tight cluster (as opposed to a sphere) isn’t really possible in VDL yet, but it’s on our short list of effects to add as soon as possible. In the meantime, the best approximation in VDL is probably a half and half effect like: 25mm Very Dense Bright Red Strobing Peony Top Half w/ Very Dense Gold Palm Bottom Half I used the adjustment terms “Very Dense” and “Bright” because the effect looked crappy without them. You can learn more about VDL adjustment terms here: https://finale3d.com/vdl_documentation/vdl-effect-adjustment-terms/
Cost/Price Budget Target wish to have a field in the Set Show information dialog where i am able to save my budget target (for costs and total price). With this Variable we can show the “left over budget” in the design window optionally.
Hey there, We have a cake that I need help with in regards to VDL. The cake is Sky Treats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbeKJA-jFl4 I cannot figure out what that white/silver “horsetail/bouquet” like effect is that happens after the mine. Thanks! Kristine
Hello everybody! My name is Benjamin, and I work at a company called Multi FX in Denmark, which specializes in sfx and pyrotechnics. I’m the lead-designer, and quite new to Finale 3D. We’re have developed our own firing system, and are currently working on Silkeborg Regatta, which is 6 shows over the course of 4 days, with 1200-3000 cues per show.
Thank you Drew. I figured that was the answer but thought it worth asking. I would bet that option for the community would be popular, especially if each cake that was made was given permanent credit to the creator(ex. Made possible by DrewFinale). Add a competition to it, whoever makes the most cakes that are accurate gets a year of free license. The drawing factor to finale for me was being able to pull the premade fireworks and drop them into the show with the visual. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know, just hoping to encourage the movement to draw on your free support of your customers to make the program even stronger. The setup at CobraCon where you had premade the effects and we were able to make a small show in hours was great. Was very attractive, especially true for guys like me that have very little free time but enjoy this hobby.
Thanks for the great question. We don’t have a shared community effect collection yet but this definitely something we plan to implement in the future. To alleviate any privacy or security concerns, we would not pull effects from users’ private “My Effects” collections, instead we plan to add a feature that allows users to selectively upload effects of their choosing to the community catalog. In the meantime, one of the best things you can do is encourage your suppliers, like the folks at American, to join the Finale 3D supplier catalog program. We are constantly adding more effects, at the same time, suppliers are able to develop and maintain their own catalogs and we are here to support any company interested in joining the program.
Thanks Drew! I will have dad update his version and see what happens!
