How would you do?

NewcomerHi,
I design a scene for a show that I need to run 4 times in a day.
i was wondering if it would be possible to plug all my effect at the first show (for all the 4th shows) and change the program in order to avoid the reload between 2 shows, cause I will probably not have the time to do it.
this will be in a theatre only with interior products like gerb, mine, flare, etc …how would you do that ?

SilverHi Pyro_Cyril,
What firing system are you using?
Will the four shows be controlled with timecode or will you start each show by pressing a button on the firing system?

SilverSMPTE timecode, got it!
Next question: Will the start time of the timecode be the same for all four shows or will it be different for each show. For example, will all four shows start at timecode value 00:00:00:00 or will the first show start at 00:00:00:00 and the second show start at a different timecode value, like 01:00:00:00, etc.?

SilverOkay, got it — you need four script files that start at 17:30:00:00, and each script needs to have different addresses so all four shows can be prepared in advance using one firing system.
My recommendation is to start by designing the shows back to back as single show in Finale 3D. This will allow you to address the shows together, ensuring that there are no duplicate addresses. After completely finishing the design and addressing, I would make four copies of the Finale 3D show file. In the first copy, I would delete the all but the first show, align it to the correct time on the timeline, then export the script. I would then repeat the same process for the second, third and fourth shows. This end result will be four script files, all starting at the correct time, and with unique addresses in each script.

SilverGood morning everyone. Im curios to find out if there is a quick way to create finale strings for a design, or is it solely based on the info in libraries?
Hi TMG Pyro, can you tell us a little more about what you mean by “finale strings”. You mentioned libraries, so I think you may be talking about creating effects using visual descriptive language (VDL), but I’m not sure, can you give a bit more detail?

NewcomerThank you for responding. The best way I can explain it is for my finale, the first shot in my finale is a string of 10 shells matched together. Per my design, I have over 600 shells for my finale. I have multiple ques with shells matched together of (10) 3 inch, (6) 4 Inch and (5) 5 Inch shells. When I look through the libraries of company products, I have found very few finale strings. So Im curious if creating the finale strings for the end of the show, can be created in create effects where firing 10 3″ shell over 3 to 5 seconds can be made? Using VDL, how would I describe what I need?

NewcomerEasy way — drop shells needed for desired chain on a position, create a sequence of desired duration (Script–>Sequences–>Make into sequence), select all effects in sequence and create chain (Effects–>Combine as chain effect)
Example of a 3″ 10 shot 3 second chain VDL created this way –> 3″ 3.0s Chain Of 10 110.0 HTM Red Chrysanthemum

NewcomerGood morning. I believe there may be a misunderstanding of what I am looking for. I am trying to create a finale chain in my effects window. I have not been able to locate very much information through the fireworks company libraries of effects. So I want to create my own. I have attached a picture of what effect Im trying to create.

SilverI went into create effects and typed 3″ 3.0s Chain Of 10 110.0 HTM Red Chrysanthemum and that seemed to do the trick. Can I just increase the size of shell and number of shells? IE; 4″ 3.0s Chain Of 6 125.0 HTM Red Chrysanthemum
Going to Effects > Create effect and typing the visual descriptive language (VDL) is perfectly fine. You can also make a chain effect (which is saved in the effects window) by following the steps NEC described. The benefit of NEC’s approach is that it makes it very easy to make chains that contain shells that are different effects. Check out the Creating finale chains (two different ways) tutorial video.
