Sky Fire Forge, Neil is spot on. The October 2023 full release had a bug that was fixed in the immediate next beta release. I previously thought the bug only affected the intensity curves of very specific strobing effects, but it’s now apparent that can impact a wider range of effects. Thankfully, it’s already fixed. All you have to is update to any beta release shipped after the October 2023 full release and you should be all set.

Thanks Neil and DrewFinale, you are right, updating to the Beta release fixes it.   Tim

Sky Fire Forge , DrewFinale , I’ve reproduced the issue. It happens on that full release version but it works as expected with the latest beta release.   I checked the effect with the latest beta version (2024.01.15-f5d87c0dd) and with the questionable full release version (2023.10.02-5d6e6ec44) and the issue is apparent on that full release version. Something is different about the way the strobing pattern is randomized or initialized for the custom effect and it causes all the stars to be dark at the same time multiple times during the beginning of the effect.   Using the latest beta release solves the problem. It’s a bit disappointing if those videos are the most accurate to the original video, for example the first row of taste the rainbow isn’t even in the right order.   Nice catch on Taste The Rainbow, I’ll get that fixed up right away. Anything else?

As long as I know that it is just a “me” problem, I’ll keep it in my show. Could it be a GPU setting issue? BTW, I am running build 2023.10.02-5d6e6ec44. Tim   Although not impossible, a GPU setting seems like an unlikely culprit. I tested using the latest beta release. You could give that a try and see if it fixes the issue. Hi Sky Fire Forge, thanks for the report. I did a quick test and I’m not able to reproduce the issue on my machine. Here’s a screen recording: https://www.loom.com/share/f1216395c4d44d0c821a145462b23c26   The problem may be specific to your show, or it may be specific to your computer. Do the effects work properly if you go to ‘File > New show’ and add just these effects? If the effects don’t work properly in a different show, the problem is most likely specific to your computer. Unfortunately, those are the hardest problems to solve because they are almost impossible to reproduce on our end.

Hi Tim and Drew, I’m using PFX50MN-RS and it seems that all the stars flicker on and off simultaneously when it first launches.  The pics are of PFX50MN-RS (lower left), MN551 (lower right), and JY4-0190 (top shells) and I stepped thru a few sequential time codes with 10 ms spacing. These are with random turned on. Hopefully, the pics make sense. Is the simulation for PFX50MN-RS correct. There also seems to be similar phenomenon for JY3-0184 (not shown). Is the simulation correct?   Thanks, Tim

Maybe they decrease the quality if you use a converter to download them. When you buy them all is good.   Hi Sven, amplitude primarily affects perceived loudness, it doesn’t directly correlate to audio quality. Amplitude represents the height of the waveform, which corresponds to the intensity of the sound. Higher amplitude signals represent louder sounds, while lower amplitude signals represent quieter sounds.
