Matt Loreto wrote: By chance are we allowed to angle cakes, straight cakes and/or strip cakes? Or does that fall under “No modifications rule?”   Hi Matt, there are no angle restrictions for cakes. In other words, YES, you can angle cakes. A modification (that is not permitted) would be breaking a cake apart in some way so that the timing or firing pattern is altered. If you decide to angle fan cakes or single-row slice (i.e., strip) cakes, be sure to check out the video on mastering angles here: https://finale3d.com/video/mastering-angles-pan-tilt-spin

Creating Reports

I was trying to find a way to search for this topic, but unable to find how to search…   Is there a report (or a way to build a custom report) that tells you how many of each angle is needed at each station excluding the size of each angle needed?

We estimate that the fix will require a multi-week development initiative and there are numerous requests competing for top spots in the development schedule. We haven’t made this a top priority yet primarily because there is a easy/reliable workaround.

Thank you DrewFinale,  I am surprised that the latest version hasn’t addressed this by now.

Hi Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics), thanks for posting. We’re aware of the audio issues when importing some MP3s and we will fix it as soon as we can. In the meantime, there’s a fairly easy workaround that has been 100% reliable. For more details and a tutorial video, check out this forum topic: MP3 audio issues (static, crackling, popping, clicking) when importing songs into Finale 3D.   Although not a recommended solution to the issue you’re having, the Hobbyist and Pro version of Finale 3D do have basic audio editing capabilities. Here’s a video tutorial from the Finale 3D Help Center: Creating a soundtrack and editing songs in Finale 3D.

I have mixed a soundtrack with Audacity, and it plays back fine in Audacity, but when imported to Finale3D (exported from Audacity as single MP3) and played back there is a distinct ‘pop’ at the beginning of each mixed track.  I know this is not a Finale3D issue but was curious if anyone else has seen this and knows of a workaround or fix. This became noticeable when I added a song (single mixed MP3).  I can even see a spike on the waveform in Finale that I don’t see in Audacity. I don’t know of any soundtrack editing capabilities in Finale3D, if there are I would be interested in hearing about them.

Possibly to reduce where the script is visible? You can zoom in and out on the timeline using your mouse wheel, or the zoom function on your computer’s touchpad. You can also zoom in and out using the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons in the lower right corner of the timeline. Currently, the timeline has a fixed height and can’t be increased. You can hide and unhide items in the simulation and on the timeline using the search box and drop-down filter lists in the Script window. For example, if you search for “blue” in the Script window, the script, simulation and timeline will hide everything that doesn’t include “blue”. Filtering the script can make it easier to work on complex segments of a show.   2. How could I see the music again, if I put a lot of products, effects over it (examples in the images below) To make the timeline easier to see, you can hide the colorful duration bars by clicking the button that looks like an x-ray/radioactive symbol.   3. Can I edit the music mark before on the timeline where to put/synchronize the effect? Mark the Bit? If the effects are still masking my music? You can insert an effect anywhere on the timeline regardless of how many other effects are already on the timeline. You can insert an empty cue at any point on the timeline by going to ‘Script > Insert empty cue’, or by playing the show and tapping the ‘i’ key on your keyboard.
