Hello everyone, I have a quick question regarding the rules. It is stated that cakes must not have angles, but I was wondering if this also applies to products like the “70 Shot Blue Comet Cake”. Thank you in advance for your clarification 🙂 Kind regards, Balthazar

Hi MikeG, it seems like your show file has somehow become corrupted. It shouldn’t be possible for an update to have caused this, let alone for an update to corrupt your previous show files. Installing a new version of Finale 3D only modifies files in the Finale 3D installation directory; it doesn’t touch show files in any way or files stored in other folders on your computer.   When a single show file is corrupted, the problem is typically that something interfered with the saving process the last time you saved the show. I’ve never encountered a situation where all show files saved on a computer are corrupted. As a theory, I wonder if this could be caused by an antivirus or antimalware application mistakenly seeing your show files as malicious.   As a first step, try recovering your show(s) from the backup copy that Finale 3D keeps, which you can access from within Finale 3D by going to File > Admin > Open backup files directory.

Show won’t open after updating software

Updated software today.  After restarting, went to work on my 4th of July show and it says, “Unable to Open file.”  It says this for all of my previously saved shows.  What to do??

Hi pyro52634673, I’m happy to help.   It appears your show has not been addressed. Please try assigning firing system addresses by going to Addressing > Address show.   If this does not resolve the issue, please send your show (.fin) file to support@finale3d.com. In your email, please also tell me which menu option you are using to export your script and give me an example of a specific line of script that does not export properly.

I export the script to csv. But the quantity and tilt angle are different from my finale script; only a few cues have this problem.

Hardware Rack Layout for Digital Firewriting (Vertical Letters)

Hi everyone,   I am working on a digital (vertical) letter sequence using 20mm single shots. In Finale 3D, the matrix for each letter typically requires 5 positions. However, I have a specific question regarding the physical rack layout on the ground.   For those who have experience with this, what is the best workflow to transition from the 2D digital letter effect in the script to the actual physical setup on the field?   I’ve searched the forum but couldn’t find a detailed guide on the physical hardware organization for this specific ‘cadence-based’ writing. Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated!   For additional context, here is the physical setup I am planning to use to achieve maximum legibility at a 70-meter viewing distance with 20mm comets (55m altitude):   X-Axis (Width): 1.50metters spacing between the 5 positions to achieve a letter an 3 m between each letters.   Does this spacing seem optimal or would you recommend a different ratio for 20mm effects?   Thanks, and have a good day.

Hello everyone, I’m Huang Wei. I come from Liuyang, Hunan—the hometown of fireworks and firecrackers in China, and I have been in the fireworks industry for nearly two years. For me, fireworks are not just a gorgeous moment, but an art that brings beauty and romance to everyone. I really love creating fantastic firework shows. I’m so glad to meet friends from all over the world who share the same passion for fireworks. I hope we can communicate more, learn Finale 3D design skills together and make progress with each other!

Reply To: Problem with reports

Hi Walker Pyrotechnics, I’m not aware of any issues with the Product List By Position report. But, if you send your show file to support@finale3d.com and give me an example of a specific position that’s missing form the report, I would happy to look into it.
