Reply To: How do I put a position in a 3D model

There are multiple ways to add firing positions to a model. For example, you can create a position on the ground and then drag it onto the model. Depending on the model, another option to add a position is to right click on the model and select ‘Add position at this point’.   When you drag a position to a model, it will automatically snap to the surface of the model. In most cases, the snapping works well, although sometimes you will need to manually adjust the placement or orientation of the position. If you right click on a position, you will find options to rotate the position and another useful option called ‘Move on axis’. This feature allows you to move a position in a specific direction which can be very useful when standard drag and drop doesn’t give you the desired results.   To learn more about placing and orienting positions, check out Racks and positions coordinate system: heading, pitch, roll.

Happy to help. Here’s a video tutorial that demonstrates how to share fireTEK modules and slats between multiple positions: https://finale3d.com/video/sharing-firetek-modules-and-slats-across-multiple-positions

You can specify the staring module number in the position properties.

Several modules per position

Hi,   I have a question, do you know how to assign a module to several positions? Let me explain :   I use FireTek, and I have a fire with 10 positions, I would like to be able to put module 1 on position 1,2 and 3.   Is it possible ? And how to do it please, because I can’t find the solution.   Thank you so much

Easier way to split DMX on seperate modules like FireTEK. The export script function ALWAYS puts dmx on first module. Maybe i am doing something wrong.

Reply To: Bug in calculating cost?

Hi Drew,   Thanks for the answer. If I remember correctly, the wrong cost was shown at the lower right corner of the main simulation window. It looked to me that the subroutine displaying the cost interpreted the dot as a thousand separator or something like that.   If you cannot replicate this issue with the info above, I’ll try to generate exact steps within the next week or so.   ++karri

Hi Pyro_112610000, you may be able to get the look you want by elevating the firing position and angling the effect straight down. If you already gave that a try, let me know and we can look into improving the simulation itself.

Hi PyroDad,   Thanks for the bug report. I did a quick test but wasn’t able to reproduce the problem. Here are the steps I followed:   1) Create an effect with a Cost of $5.325 and Price of $7.10 2) Add 10 of the item to the show 3) Observe the Price total in the lower right corner of the Design window is $7.10 x 10 = $71.10 4) Go to ‘File > User settings’ and enable ‘Show cost instead of price in 3D view’ 5) Observe the Cost total in the lower right corner of the Design window is $5.325 x 10 = $53.25   You didn’t mention where you are looking at the total cost. Perhaps I’m looking in a different location? If you can give me a set of steps to reproduce the issue then I would be happy to investigate further.
