Hi Brad, if line item in the Script window has an address, and the effect has a valid ‘Type’ in the Per-show effects collection in the Effects window, then it should be in the exported script file. Obviously, it’s not impossible for things to be missing, but it’s very unlikely to be a pervasive issue in your show. To build confidence that nothing is missing, add a filter for ‘Type’ using the blue gear icon in the Script window, then check the list of types in the drop-down to make sure they are valid. As an example of a bad ‘Type’, I recently helped a user that had 6 effects missing when he exported his script. The reason was because the ‘Type’ for the 6 effects was set to ‘Rack’. Normally, this would have been easy to catch because the ‘Address Show’ feature won’t assign a Rail or Pin number for an effect with Type = Rack. But, in this case the user had hand-keyed in all of his addresses. To fix the issue, all the user had to do was change the Type from Rack to Cake for that effect in the Per-Show effects collection and the script exported perfectly.
Same interest from me. I think a good option here may be for us to use a shared google doc (sheet), but before I make and publish something, I’d like Drew to give us a thumbs up that he’s ok with that.
Hi Brad, was it configured as DMX ? If yes, keep in mind that in a lot of reports DMX effects are filtered out !
This will be the worst troubleshooting email ever, because I managed to fix the problem already, and don’t have a test case Finale file that replicates the problem. But curious if anyone has ever run into this problem. Had 3 flame effects in my show. Just happened to notice that they weren’t on the inventory pull sheet report when picking products. Verified the effects were still in the show, and still appeared in the Script window, and had been addressed with valid rails/pins. Everything seemed to be in order. Turned out they were also missing from the labels report and from the Cobra script export. Tried all the following to get them to appear: Selected the flames on the timeline, reassigned the same object. NO LUCK. Assigned different flames. THE NEW FLAMES DID APPEAR ON THE REPORTS. Assigned the original flames back. DISAPPEARED AGAIN. Edited the original effect copied the VDL from another flame that was working. NO LUCK. Deleted the flames entirely from the timeline, and just re-posted the original (non-working) flames to the timeline. NOW THEY WORK. Wish I had saved a copy of the file when it was broken, because now I can’t replicate the issue. But confidence is a bit shaken, because now uncertain if any other effects are missing and I didn’t catch them.. Anyone else run into anything similar?
Hi Jonathan, you’re really close, I think you’re probably one small step away from getting exactly what you want. My guess is that after adjusting the column widths in the Script window, you’re not selecting ‘Save current table layout to report template’ from the blue gear menu. You need to do this in order for your column width adjustments to take effect. Here’s an in-depth post on configuring reports: https://finale3d.com/groups/english/forum/topic/custom-report-syntax/#post-1416226

Hello again Drew. I have worked out the issues with most of my racking. Rather than CUT out a bunch of what I might thing is irrelevant, I just created a test bed to try things out in. I think the racks are being generated correctly now, but I am working through things with the test bed. Trying to get chains to rack to the same rack during addressing.

Ideally threads would be titled something like ‘Winda P5581 Fish Tank’ or ‘Pyroland PYL2001 Mother of dragons’ and people could discuss and share what they have created. I have been asking for this for 2 years now. I know there are some who are selling their designs, so I am wondering if this is part of the inaction on the ability to do this. My renderings are never perfect, but I have literally hundreds of designs that are really close and work well for scripting. I am willing to share in return for sharing others I haven’t made yet. I don’t mean to resurrect an old thread, but one other thing I’ve learned from printing labels over the years (and encountered myself this year again): If you have a manual paper tray option, use it instead of just putting your labels into the normal paper tray. With such small tolerances, label stock can quickly lose alignment when it’s picked up and rotated by printer rollers. On my commercial laser printer, I lose my label text off the side until I pop down my manual feed tray – then everything works well!
I can’t seem to figure out why when I create a custom report that it smashes up some of my columns so I can’t read what’s in them. I understand that the description one can’t fit all my text in but address, size and angles I can barely read. I’ve tried adjusting the column size in the script window and then resaving my custom report but that doesn’t seem to do anything. Am I missing something?
