Hello again!   Tim Jameson I'm just wondering why the fuel mines in the different sizes always have 1 gallon of fuel, but the larger the diameter, the higher is the price? Is that correct that every mine has the same amount of fuel?   And if they all have in fact 1 gallon on fuel, what are the different results depending on the different diameters?   I think there are differences in rising height, but I also think they are simulated a little bit small compared to reality?!     Would be very important to calculate the right amount of fuel for the whole show :)   Thank you Sascha

Is this normal or is it just a height error in the VDL? thank you in advance for your response. Valentin Daréous   Hi Valentin, as Tim mentioned in the previous post, the candle heights have already been fixed up. If you're still seeing an issue, try refreshing the catalog and updating the effects in your show. For instructions, check out this post from a few days ago.

Valentin Daréous Hello Valentin, thank you for participating in the competition.  This was something which was noticed earlier in the competition and was fixed.  Have you re-synced with the network lately?  If not, do a re-sync and see if it updates the red candle.  I just checked them and all 3 seem to be performing correctly at this time.

Uso de la rueda Wheel

sHola buenas tardes, algún compañero/a me puede indicar cómo usar la rueda wheel en el simulador, sería de agradecer, un saludo Carlos

Hi Martin, thanks for the post, here are answers to your questions:   Aston Down Airfield Show wrote: First question: On the PyroJam Competition stock list there are 3 sets of 140s Roman Candles, on the list they show 35 seconds but in brackets they show 30 seconds, I’m using a few of these but on the visual show simulation they overrun my track point by 5 seconds, will this be taken into consideration when judging takes place due to the visual effect duration being wrong?   In this case, the simulated durations for the candles are accurate. The advertised time from the manufacturer is 30 seconds, but the candles have been known to run a little long. Just like cakes, the duration of candles can vary from batch to batch. It's impossible to know the exact duration and consequently there's always a risk when aligning the end of a cake or candle with the end of a song.   Second question: The show length is a maximum of 10 minutes however if there are any visual effect such as titanium willow or strobe effect still visible after 10 minutes will this cause a point deduction? or at the 10 minutes cut off do we require clear black sky?   For simplicity, show duration is not calculated using the simulation. The show duration is measured from the first cue marker to the last cue marker on the timeline. As long as the time from your first to last cue marker is between 9 and 10 minutes, you will not be penalized. See: https://finale3d.com/pyrojam-2025#show-duration   Last question: On the PyroJam firing position layout (PyroJam 2025 Competition rules page) it shows five rows, not including the two towers and wheel tower, however on the Finale 3D main site layout there are six rows. Could you let me know what this row can be used for please, the row in question is directly behind the towers and wheel tower marked (LFM-01 to LFM-11) Many thanks Martin Darke   LFM stands for Liquid Fuel Mine. This is a special set of positions exclusively for the optional third show add-on. See: https://finale3d.com/pyrojam-2025#show-add-ons

Hi Drew and all the talented designers around the world.   I have a three questions regarding the PyroJam stock list, show design criteria and positions.   First question: On the PyroJam Competition stock list there are 3 sets of 140s Roman Candles, on the list they show 35 seconds but in brackets they show 30 seconds, I'm using a few of these but on the visual show simulation they overrun my track point by 5 seconds, will this be taken into consideration when judging takes place due to the visual effect duration being wrong?   Second question: The show length is a maximum of 10 minutes however if there are any visual effect such as titanium willow or strobe effect still visible after 10 minutes will this cause a point deduction? or at the 10 minutes cut off do we require clear black sky?   Last question: On the PyroJam firing position layout (PyroJam 2025 Competition rules page) it shows five rows, not including the two towers and wheel tower, however on the Finale 3D main site layout there are six rows. If I aim SS comet 70 degrees toward the ground is that considered “shooting the ground?” Thanks! The main thing we have to concern ourselves with are fires (shooting into the woods) and/or damage to equipment (possibly shooting some devices directly into the ground and having them bounce onto other positions/equipment).  We are trying to stay away from too many “rules” so try to use your best judgement as to whether what you are designing could have a higher risk of causing damage or fires.  I know this probably isn’t the black & white answer some might be looking for but again we aren’t trying to restrict creative design.

Star_Stuff wrote: Drew, Earlier I was trying to update the mines that were corrected recently. When I click ‘sync with network’ per show events aren’t updating. To get around that I have to add one more of that effect and then it updates the other instances in the show. Is that normal or am I missing a setting somewhere? Please advise. Thank you, Patrick   Great question — when you do Sync with network, this simply refreshes your online effect collections, such as the PyroJam Competition catalog. By design, it doesn't automatically update you show. The items in your show are stored in an effect collection called Per-show effects. To refresh Per-show effects, go to Effects > Update Per-show effects.   When you update per-show effects, you are given the choice of pulling the updates from the effect collection that is currently open in the effects window or pulling from all effect collections. For the purposes of PyroJam, I recommend opening the PyroJam Competition catalog in the effects window, then going to Effects > Update Per-show effects, and clicking the button labeled Current. This ensures that the updates made to your show only come from the PyroJam catalog, and not from other effect collections, such as your My Effects, that may have matching part numbers.
