I'm sorry, the VDL term "Nautical" is just a placeholder at the moment. Finale 3D doesn't support water effects yet. The main limitation at the moment is that effects fall through the ground/water, they don't land on the surface like they would in real life. Once we address that aspect of the 3D environment, adding the effects themselves should be fairly straightforward. I don't have a specific timeline at this moment, but we do have this project on the development roadmap.
Hi Moises Luis Exposito, as Dirk said, the Part Numbers in the CSV file you are importing need to match part numbers in one of your effect collections. Then, when you import a CSV into a show, the items in the CSV are imported into 'Per-show effects'. To make the definitions of the effects in Per-show Effects match the definitions in another effect collection, 1) Select the collection (in the Effects window) that has the effects that are correct, 2) 'Go to Effects (menu) > Update Per-show effects', 3) Click the 'Current' button. This will update Per-show effects using definitions found in the effect collection that is currently displayed in the Effects window.
Hi, no, at this time it is not possible to shot a cake in reverse order . Also it is not possible to ignite it on both sides , but it is on the wish list, but with very low priority . Dirk
Sometime when I am using consumer cakes, I will reverse fuse them, thus shooting the cake backwards. Does Finale have a feature to reverse the shooting order without having to recreate the VDL all over again? (This is NOT the same as rotating the cake 180 degrees.)
I am curious about creating a simulation of water cakes. When I have been trying to create an effect, I see that it will provide a description for nautical cakes, but this doesn't seem to be any different than a cake that goes up and has a break. Specifically, I am looking to create something like this: https://youtu.be/iBiaP82MMPE
Hi , i do this a lot of times and normally that should be working , but i have not tried with the last 3 versions ! The part number must exists in one of your effect databases like myeffects . I always select the database in the effect window before i import. From you screenshot it seems that you have selected the per show parts effects (i cannot translate) What you also can you is mark the effects in the script window and than replace it with the selected effect from the effect window (Y Key) Dirk
Is there any way to import a CSV file created in another program and the effects with the same part number is correct? Right now I get a random effect that does not match my library. I do not know if I have explained myself well, thank you very much.
Hi Engineer Cat, take a look at the screenshot below. This is a simple show with 5 shells bursting 1 second apart. The first shell bursts at 5 seconds and the last shell bursts at 9 seconds. The 'Next' value is 1.0s for each shell except for the last shell. The 1.0s value comes from the time from one shell's Effect time to the next shell's Effect Time. The last shell has no Next value because it's the last thing in the show, there's nothing next! No matter the show, something is always last, and the last item will have a blank Next value. Will the item be included in the exported firing system script? Yes, absolutely! Otherwise, we'd be getting a lot of negative feedback.
Thanks Drew. So just to confirm. If the next time is blank that cue will still fire? I was worried that there was a problem with the script. That was the only reason I was trying to remove and then replace it to see if the NEXT event time would return. I'm removing that column. lol By the way. I came across this when auditing the show. Thank so much for the information on sorting the show to find cues in the wrong positions. I had quite a few I came across but because of the sorting explanation you provide, was able to make quick work of the audit.
Okay awesome! Thank you I just want to find that out!
