Hello Drew, I would like a precision concerning the question N°11 in the main topic about letter matrix. If I understand correctly, we cannot do letters with single shot for example ? Or it's just concerned the direction toward or away the audience ? In resume if we do letters verticaly, does it allowed ? Thank's. P-A
Hi, brand new user of Finale3D...in just the last month. I'm late to the game for 2025 Pyrojam, as I just figured out what it was...lol. I was focused on learning the software and getting my show complete for this summer, to get my product orders in early. I'm not a power user yet, but, I've learned a large chunk of the software already...and I think its a great product. Anyway, a couple basic, wave-top questions... 1. Is the Pyrojam physical shooting location the same every year? 2. Can anyone go to the shoot, or is it for entrants only? (I only live a couple hrs away and would love to bring my family out to watch it) 3. For next year...can I just use my Hobbyist license or do I HAVE to upgrade to the PRO version? Thanks! -Russ

Hello, Russ from Maine, but currently reside in Virginia. Been enthused with 4th of July and fireworks since I first saw my dad and Grampa shooting fireworks when I was 4yrs old. After almost 25yrs of USAF active military service, and 10 years of planning a pyromusical in my head (yes...10 yrs!), I put my first show on last year on the 4th at our camp on a lake in Maine with a MAXED OUT and overly-taxed IGNITE system. It was an amazing and resounding success. So this year...MASSIVE upgrades including full COBRA firing, Finale3D scripting, custom musical effects using Audacity, and 1.4G Pro products across multiple positions. I'm considering Pyrocast so boats watching from the middle of lake (it's almost 2miles across) can have "tuned" music right to their viewing position. But I dunno...lol...so many changes already...what could go wrong??? That said, I'm really just a backyard, novice-amateur hobbyist, doing one self-funded show/yr. But maybe...this grows into something else. Nobody in my area (of Maine) does anything like this (that I'm aware of.) I discovered Finale3D about 1 month ago from the COBRA website. I've been fervently immersed in self-learning of the hobbyist version. This is pretty powerful software and was exactly what I was looking for to expedite the scripting...although...creating my own effects to match my uncatalogued supplier was a bit tedious. All good learning I guess...CHEERS!

That is correct, the minimum duration is 9 minutes, the maximum is 10 minutes. Show duration is calculated as the time from the first cue marker to the last cue marker on the timeline.

I'd like to see "child effects" or effect groups with a parent effect. For example, I have a 49 shot cake. 7 rows of 7. I can use this cake as a whole (parent effect), or I can break it down into rows, or even single shots. Most 25s or 49s 30mm cakes I will break into singles or rows. I rarely will ever shoot them a whole. We need a way to manage that reality in Finale 3D. I envision an option to "Create child effect > from item in show OR from item in effects window". Or, another option is to do this from the break apart cake. Haven't thought out all the scenarios this could be used for, but just to make the general point... Maybe even have Finale smart enough to know you want rows or singles from a cake. Perhaps extending the "Break apart cake" feature where Finale smartly knows you might want rows or single shots and do this for you. The primary reason for doing this is two-fold. One is obviously to create new effects from the parent, the second is to manage inventory better. When you have 49 possible single shots in a cake, how do you know what inventory you have available? You either have 1 cake to use, or 7 slice rows, or 49 single shots. If you use 5 as single shots in a show, you now have 0 cakes, 6 rows, and 2 singles available. I also see other possibilities in this, so this is a start to get the innovation juices flowing. :)
hello all john mikrut here, have been using finale for 4 years now, i have been shooting fireworks for 20 years now, shoot mainly 1.3 city shows, started doing pyromusicals the last 4 years now
Hi! My name is Fjord and I am currently a show designer for a Japanese Company since December 2023. I have also been doing simulations for over 12 years. I have designed programs while working in the company that have been fired here in Japan and overseas. Looking forward to learning more about Finale 3D with everyone!
