I have had the same issue today! Been running fine on the same laptop up until today. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it never opens. IT department said this is all they could find that was showing a sign of error.

Did you try crackle flowers? I think that’s the one you want… Barehm wrote: Thank you DrewFinale – that worked very well. Good VDL advice and some some pyro manufacturing background! I’ve noticed that using popcorn crackling gives me a secondary break and hence a sound node when I look in the effect editor. Something like “intense crackling” doesn’t act as a break and hence I get no sound. Is this intentional?

USing the Quota Column

Hello, I wanted to use the Quota Column in Finale to monitor how many effects want to use in a show. However, when I tried to enter a Quots number for an effect the number does not load in My Effects. How do I enter quantities for Quotas?

Ahh okay, the cues aren’t actually moving, it’s just a sync issue between the music and simulation. This is rare but we have seen it before. This is most likely a hardware or driver issue on your computer, not specifically something you’re doing in your design workflow. Try getting the latest sound card driver from your computer manufacturer’s website. Updating your graphics card driver and other drivers may help as well.

This could be an issue with your graphics card (GPU). The info in your screenshots are very helpful but they don’t list your graphics card. Can you tell us what graphics card is in your computer? If you’re not sure, you can search for Device Manager in the Windows Start menu. Your graphics card will be listed in the Display adapters section of the Device Manager.

I don’t doubt I’m doing something dumb to cause it, I was just hoping other people before me might be able to share specific things that they accidentally did to do this so I can more easily figure out if I’m doing them. The event and effect times are staying the same, I’m just seeing the sim/music not consistently aligning on cues that I haven’t purposely touched recently. It’s usually only off by like 1/4 or 1/2 second but it annoys me. Sometimes it seems to go away by itself.

Hey Pyro_322770000, where are you seeing the time shifts? Are you seeing the event and effect times in the script window change? Or are you seeing that simulation and music doesn’t consistently align when you’re playing your show?   It’s really unlikely that the event/effect time values in the script are changing on their own. If this is what you’re seeing, the most likely scenario is that you’re inadvertently shifting your events in some way. There are many, many ways to move events, so it’s almost impossible to know what’s happening without looking over your shoulder. When you notice the problem happening, try to retrace your steps and figure out exactly what you were doing in the moments before the events shifted. The more you can tell us about what lead up to the shift happening, the better guidance we can give you.
