Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics) replied to the topic Nov 2023 Cakes Contest // Official Topic & FAQ
I have looked over the latest VDL documentation and I still cannot find a descriptive term that tells the VDL to delay the second defined effect. VDL like red peony to crackle flower, fires the crackle flower much too soon to accurately depict some the cake effects.

Good Day,
A simple question. I know it is not part of the entry form but wouldn’t our simulations of the cakes be a desirable thing? I understand you can create the simulations from the submitted VDL, but having it already on a .fin file might speed your judging process.

Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics) replied to the topic Update messed up my effects?
My software is telling me that I am 12 days behind, so I downloaded the latest beta. When I moved the file to my archive it was already there. It seems the beta listed is listed as 2023-07-21. Yet the full release is listed as 2023-07-27. Was the 2023-07-27 version released as a beta?

Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics) replied to the topic Racking issue
Hello again Drew. I have worked out the issues with most of my racking. Rather than CUT out a bunch of what I might thing is irrelevant, I just created a test bed to try things out in. I think the racks are being generated correctly now, but I am working through things with the test bed. Trying to get chains to rack to the same rack during addressing.

Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics) replied to the topic Racking issue
Thanks for the pointer Drew, I found the issue in that some of the effects had gotten a 90 degree pan on them and were thus not meeting the criteria for Pan, Tilt and Spin. I was able to correct the effects and was able to generate correct rack numbers and locations (although I found it easier to create a Dummy rack for the Cakes like I did f…Read More

Phil (Fire In the Sky Pyrotechnics) replied to the topic Importing personal catalog
After dropping down the file type on the save dialog it was easy to import. I was able to import everything with all the values I needed for my availables, prices, and even some info I find useful that I put in some user fields. Everything imported and it recognize all the column names.
I’m a happy camper again.

I have an excel spreadsheet with all my data about my fireworks inventory including VDL definitions that I would like to import into an effect database (.fdb) in Finale 3D. It seems the newest version of excel exports in either or tab delimited, CSV comma delimited, or Formated Text space delimited. The documentation recommends that the s…Read More

Thank you DrewFinale, I am surprised that with the latest version addressed this by now.

I have mixed a soundtrack with Audacity, and it plays back fine in Audacity, but when imported to Finale3D (exported from Audacity as single MP3) and played back there is a distinct ‘pop’ at the beginning of each mixed track. I know this is not a Finale3D issue but was curious if anyone else has seen this and knows of a workaround or fix.
