Any tips to create a sim for 3 stage humming comets?

Hi all,   I’m trying to create a sim for a 3 stage humming comets similar to those in “Siren’s Call” by Winda: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwqhb_J4VKE   It seems like a modified rising whistle comet is the closest starting point but I’m struggling but I’m struggling with the ability to create the 3 stages. Using the effect editor I’ve been able to setup a 3x repeating sound but I haven’t found any way to get anything close to the motion even close to the 3 staged self propulsion these effects seem to have. I’ve tried adding multiple breaks thinking each break would give a boost to the new comet effect but the overall trajectory still seemed to follow the arc of a normal comet.   Any suggestions?   Thanks in advance,   CK

Reply To: Combining shows with the same timestamps

Hi Martin, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We are traveling this week and hosting the Pyro Technology Conference which makes it a bit harder to keep up in other areas.   You should be able to get the exact result you want following these steps: 1) Address your Saturday show. 2) Select the entire script and press L to lock the addresses. 3) Select the entire script and press Ctrl+C to copy. 4) Open your Sunday show. 5) Go to ‘Show > Set show duration’ and increase the duration of the Sunday show to at least 5x longer than the length of the show. 6) Click on the timeline at a point far beyond the end of the Sunday show and press Ctrl+V to paste. This should paste your Saturday show into your Sunday show and the Saturday events should be significantly separated on the timeline so they can’t be accidentally mixed up. 7) Confirm that the Saturday addresses are still locked (look for blue lock icons in the rail and pin columns in the script window) 8) Address the Sunday show. 9) After addressing the Sunday show, delete the Saturday events that you paste into the Sunday show. The events were only pasted temporarily to reserve pins.   You should now have a Saturday show file and a Sunday show file with non-overlapping addresses.

Combining shows with the same timestamps

Hi everyone,   We are currently building a show that will happen in the upcoming week. For your information, the show is on Saturday and Sunday, the Sunday show is almost a copy of the show that will take place on Saturday but some parts of this Saturday show are extracted on the Sunday show.   As we have enough space on our modules / rails we want to prep the shows in one time (a lot of our position are at height so we want to spare time on t his) For example, on the Saturday show we use on rail 1, pin 0 to 4, for the Sunday show I want to use pin 5 to lets say 9. But when we would duplicate the events everything would go twice on the Saturday show. Therefor I want to learn the program that it needs to start with the upfollowing pin in the Sunday show after the last pin that was used on the Saturday show. Is there a workaround for that learning auto addressing to start from lets say pin 5 on rail 1 on the Sunday show?   Kind regards, Martin

The inserted base map can be freely adjusted in position and size, which can improve the designer’s creative efficiency.

hello, can i ask a question?I created the effect of this flower in a project. How can I copy the effect of this flower in other projects?I found that after making this effect into a macro, I can re-insert it into the same project with the same firing point, but when it is inserted into other projects, because there is no same firing point, I cannot use the effect macro.

I want to do a slow up flash effect

I want to do a balloon slowly rising, hanging flash up the effect. The duration is 30-60 seconds, resulting in a parabolic fall to the ground after launch. I want to go up at 2 meters per second, similar to the slow rise of the UFO effect, how to set?

Reply To: New supplier Catalogue

Welcome to the Finale 3D community!   The most important thing to know before creating a supplier catalog is that the majority of the work involved is creating the simulations for the products. If you have experience using Visual Descriptive Language (VDL) to create effect simulations, the project will be fairly straightforward. If you are not familiar with creating effects, you can certainly learn, it will just require more time.   Once you have imported the products into Finale 3D and created the simulations, you can simply send them to us and we will publish the catalog.

AWESOME!  Success!  I watched most all your video and was pretty sure I remembered seeing it in there somewhere – and about having to save it.  Just couldn’t recall which video it was in.  It’s a lot to learn – the nature of a big, flexible software with lots of options.  Complex = Flexible vs. Simple = Inflexible.  I like having options.  Thanks Drew.  See you at CobraCon ’24

U’King PAR lights – Have you built yours to work?

I see we have access to a few U’king lights but nothing I have.   Before I start down this road of building the lights to work if someone has done it already.  I am looking to see if anyone has built their own and would be willing share it.   I have the 8 Channel, LED 15w PAR lights.   Thank you Charles

Hi Rick, “unnamed” indicates that your FDB effect file hasn’t been saved. To save it and give a name, go to File > Effect files > Save.   FDB effect files are stored offline on computer. The name listed in Finale 3D is the same as the filename of the FDB file on your computer’s hard drive. If you want to change the name later, just go to the folder where the FDB file is stored and rename it.   Check out: https://finale3d.com/video/how-to-store-your-effects-offline-using-fdb-effect-files/
