Reply To: DMX PAR-36 Dimming

Hey, Chris. Just another user here, but I’ve been tinkering with the latest DMX functionality. While I’m not using the Cobra par light, the process should be the same.   The documentation page says that fixture uses the same channel setup as EasyDancing 36x1W RGB Par Light. That’s # 005 in the fixture list within Finale. When you set up a position and select that, you’ll be prompted to create the standard effects. There are various fade/intensity effects that get created as part of that. One of those is fade as a “modifier”, meaning you pick a color (ex: Flash Red), stretch it out to the duration you want, and then add With Fade-In (Modifier, No Sim) or With Fade-Out (Modifier, No Sim) depending on the direction. Strobe works the same way.   You’re going to want to install the latest Cobra firmware (8.0) if you’re going to do this. I think it’ll still work with earlier versions, but fades produce a LOT of events (one for each brightness step) if you’re not on 8.0 (make sure to select that in the script export as well).   Hope this helps.   Rich

In my opinion, the shooting site and design template for PyroJam China was very nice, with fireworks setup over a width of almost 500 meters. I’m wondering how many submissions were actually received this year? Is this more/less than last year?

Reply To: EXPLO FLAMES IN THE LIBRARY ??

In the 2026.03.19 full release version of Finale 3D, the Explo X2 Waver Flamer effects (and all other DMX effects) have been removed from the Generic Effects collection. Supplier catalogs containing DMX effects are also obsolete. All new and improved DMX effects, including the upgraded Explo X2 Waver Flamer effects are accessible by navigating to DMX > Create or update standard effects for DMX fixture (see screenshot below). The Explo X2 Waver Flamer effects are generated this way both for use with DMX-capable firing systems or the Explo ignition system.

EXPLO FLAMES IN THE LIBRARY ??

Hi, I am unable to find the Explo Waveflamer X2 cues in the Generic library anymore. These cues used to be available, but they seem to have been removed or are no longer appearing in the list. Is this a known issue, or have the Explo cues been intentionally deleted/moved to a different section? Thanks in advance for your help!
